בתי ספר כיום אינם מכשירים כלל תלמידים למיומנויות קוגניטיביות של ארגון החומרים , קבלת החלטות פתרון בעיות  וחשיבה יצירתית , טוענת ד"ר Christy Folsom . לכן , היא גיבשה מודל אחר לתכנון הוראה ולמידה בכיתה  הלוקח בחשבון מיומנויות חיוניות אלו.  המודל הפדגוגי שפיתחה  נקרא Teaching for Intellectual and Emotional Learning – TIEL והוא שואב חלק מבסיסו הרעיוני מתפיסותיו של דיוואי בחינוך תוך התאמה פדגוגית למציאות של ימינו . כותב הביקורת  פרופסור  Maurice J.
